미국 종전 반대론자들 논리

설리번: 나는 대한민국 정부와 집중적인 논의를 한다는 측면에서 너무 공개적으로 가고 싶지 않다. 

성 김 대북특사의 최근 논의가 매우 생산적이고 건설적이었다고만 말씀드리겠다. 그리고 우리는 다른 스텝들을 위해서는 정확한 순서나 시기 또는 조건에 대해 다소 다른 관점을 가질 수 있다. 

그러나 우리는 '근본적으로' 여기 핵심 전략에 대해 입장이 일치해 있다. 또 외교를 통해서만 우리는 진정으로 효과적인 진전을 이룰 수 있다는 믿음에 대해서도 일치해 있다. 그리고 이 같은 외교는 억지력과 동반돼야 한다. 그래서 당신이 제기한 특정 이슈에 대해서는 공개적으로 하고 싶지 않다. 우리는 집중적인 대화를 계속할 것이라고만 말씀드리겠다.

I do not want to go too far publicly in terms of our intensive discussions with the Republic of Korea government. 

I will only say that special envoy Sung Kim's recent discussions have been very productive and constructive. And we may have somewhat different perspectives on precise sequence or timing or conditions for different steps. 

But we are fundamentally aligned on the core strategic initiative here and on the belief that only through diplomacy are we going to really truly be able to effectively make progress. And that diplomacy has to be effectively paired with deterrence. So on the specific issue you raised I don't want to get into publicly. I will only say we're going to continue the intensive conversation.
