Sophia and I really got to know each other well this term. We talked a lot about differences between Canadian and Korean culture, and respectfully shared our personal opinions. Sophia also had some editing questions for her magazine articles.
We did the newspaper articles together, but they seemed difficult for him to understand. We talked about World Cup, and I realized that Jaden speaks better when it is about a topic he enjoys ^^
Conversation with Bruno was nice again this month. We talked about playing video games, and how even as adults it can be fun. One class he talked at length about a video game that he bought for his son. It required body movement, and it can be used for fitness. I will miss out fun conversations :(
Mason did a great job on the newspaper articles this month. He read well, and freely gave his opinions on the issues. I thought there were 2 age systems in Korea, but Mason told me that there are 3, and he said he will explain it to me later. But when?? :)
I had so much fun this term talking to Irina about her hobbies. Each class she had new nail art, that she did HERSELF. Irina made me a nice little dish cloth as a good-bye present. Irina, good luck to you in your English-language journey!
Austin and I met two times in December. Conversation didn't flow during our first class in December as Austin had difficulty understanding what I was saying. Austin needs remedial English before he can get the benefits of a conversation class. Our time was spent well on the easy-to-understand newspaper articles each week.
Viktor taught me about Russian Christmas, and about the author Boris Akunin. Viktor's Russian accent continues to soften, and his grammar is improving.
Rena is one of the students that gets the most out of our conversation class. She enjoys sharing aspects of Korean culture with me, for example 김장, and famous eateries in Korea. I was surprised that she was able to help me with the Korea Herald's crossword puzzle! She has a large vocabulary, and this helps her with her speaking.
Joseph was the best-prepared student of all the students. We did the newspaper article together each week, and he did a great job with his reading and also with answering the accompanying questions. In our last class he told me "God bless you" for my future.
Gemma and I nice classes sharing our cultures, including pop culture. Gemma is young, but I was so surprised that she didn't know who Patrick Swayze was! We talked about 80's movies and songs. Gemma also shared with me her experiences during her recent camping trip.
Anna is easy to talk to. She is not nervous about bringing up "touchy" topics such as the good and bad of the Covid vaccine. She makes the conversation have a safe feel, and I was also able to share stories about a young boxer I took under my wing after his father was killed in an automobile accident.
Alan and I did the newspaper article about food delivery, and it turns out that we both were delivery men as part-time jobs in the past. It was nice to bond over that fact. Alan sits very close and leans in when conversing, all the while maintaining continuous eye-contact. Some people may find that uncomfortable. He should give his conversation partner some room, and avert his eyes from time-to-time.
I believe I only met with Gunn once in the past 8 weeks. It's too bad, because I love listening to him talk about Korea, Korean politics, and current events.
Louis and I did his text book each week, and he improved with each class. I recommend he continue with that book series and I'm sure he will find success.
Scott and I met once during December. The short conversation was pleasant :) Good luck in 2023, man!
He speaks very comfortably with great confidence. He has excellent listening skills. He always answers the questions properly. At times he has hard time coming up with the right vocabulary, but, it's not a big problem at the moment.

He wasn't able to attend many of the classes this month because of his busy schedule. However when he was able to make it to class he showed strong effort in class. He speaks fluently., but does need to improve his vocabularies.
Unfortunately she got sick towards the end of the month, so, she missed some classes. She has great listening skills, she is able to answer the questions properly according to the questions. However she does need to improve her sentence structure.
He shows a lot of effort and interest in English, but, unfortunately he still struggles to speak fluently. He has trouble forming a proper sentence, and, has trouble with vocabularies. However he shows high level of interest so there is hope for him to improve.
He looks much more comfortable compared to previous months. Although he still has problems understanding questions, and can not form a proper sentence he doesn't look as lost as he used to be and speaks more comfortably.
